What happens if I can't pay on time?

Accepted Answer

Bumper understands that sometimes things can go wrong and is here to help. If a payment cannot be collected on the scheduled date, Bumper will reattempt the payment within 7 days and will also attempt to contact the customer to discuss their situation. A late payment fee will only be charged if the payment remains unpaid after 7 days from the repayment date and no reasonable repayment plan can be agreed upon. The late payment fee is £20, unless the loan amount is under £200, in which case the fee will be 10% of the loan amount. Additionally, a reasonable fee will be charged if Bumper needs to instruct a third-party debt collection agency to assist with loan collection. This step will only be taken if the loan is three payments in arrears and no reasonable repayment plan can be agreed upon. Customers who believe they are experiencing financial difficulties or are at risk of missing payments are encouraged to contact Bumper, who will do their best to help.

Yes, a credit check will be carried out when you apply. Bumper are obligated to make regular reports about the status of agreed payment plans. Therefore, these plans will show in your report. This can help to build your credit score as long as you are up to date with your payments.
